Connecting a UPS to a network
In order to be able to send to or receive information from a UPS over a network, the UPS must be connected to the network first.
This can be achieved directly or indirectly.
Indirect Connection
-
This solution is the most cost effective
-
The UPS uses the resources of a computer system which is connected to the network via a Network Interface Card
-
Our solutions are either Personal Solution-Pac or the UM Agent module of Solution-Pac/WAN
(both come as standard with any UPS with a U-Talk protocol).

Direct Connection
The UPS can also be directly connected to the network through a UM Link or an SNMP card (Pulsar ESV+, EX only)
which both act as Network Interface Cards.

Benefits of Direct Network Connection
-
The UPS has its own IP address
-
The UPS can be reached even though the server is down
-
This solution is required for critical applications
